02 Corsa Comfort 1.4 engine cuts out
I have an 02 Corsa Comfort 1.4 with only 15k on the clock, 1 years MoT & a full service record. The trouble is that every morning the engine cuts out after 800 yards - the engine management light comes on and stays on. You restart the engine and the car is fine for the rest of the day. Vauxhall say that they need to strip down the engine for 700 because the valve 'might' be sticking but I think it is a electronic sensor which is malfunctioning. But does anyone know which one please?

Yes we've tried it but it's very expensive in wasted fuel & not what the car is designed for - and even that remedy wasn't successful. The symptoms are like in the days before the automatic choke and you put the choke it too quickly. Fortunately in the recent warm weather the car is behaving. Thanx for replying.

Had a similar problem with my 2001 corsa about 2 years back. Had a diagnostic done on the cheap and it turned out there was a fault with EGR valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). Was replaced for a few quid and all been fine since (well, apart from the automatic choke staying on this week but don't think thats related!). Rather than have Vauxhall rob you with a 700 "investigation", mention the EGR valve to a good garage and have them look at it for you. Good luck
