I've managed to contract a Trojan-Spyware Win32@MX virus and have done a full Norton scan, but it has not been detected. I got a message from IE suggesting I download an "official security software".
This program is called "WAV2008Setup.exe". Does anyone know if this is dodgy and may cause further problems to my computer?
Don't download anything. Can you go through Accessories, System Tools, to System Restore and restore your PC to an earlier date, before it was infected/
good idea cancross. Maybe you could go one step further and create a time machine. Then just jump back a few days until you get the trojan then jump back. Just keep doing that. At least then you wont have to deal with it 100% of the time.
Yeah, but if we went back in time Flump someone might accidentally kill a butterfly and you might be born a dullard, without your rapier sharp sense of humour.
yes true cancross and we wouldnt want that would we. Whats with the fixation on butterflies? Do you want to mate with a butterfly? You are starting to sound a little strange to me cancross you butterfile
Yes, give it a go. You need to identify a date when all was well with your computer. Some nasty trojans can impair the ability of system restore to do its thing, but if you walk through the process and are given dates to work with then all should be well.
I made a time machine last week because when I got to work I realised I hadnt brushed my teeth so I made a time machine and went back in time to brush them. Only thing is by the time I made it it was 4.30pm so when I went back to 6.30am I had to spend a whole day at work again.....
try not fall into the same trap
