I see it says that the entry deadline is this coming Thursday, 25 September, rather than the usual Thursday week.

I wonder: A real change of deadline, or another Independent misprint?

I hadn't noticed that Rollo so thanks for pointing it out -- I do hope that it is a mistake.
This week's crossword is not so easy. Several of the answers I am not so sure about e.g 17a hits.
And I cannot find the tooth to remove in 1ac. I have _ _ A E _ NI _ S. Any hints ?
