Bah, the lady of the house has put us on a diet, I cant go past a field without licking a cow..
We have some Quorn bits, its so bland ..I have tried mixing it with tomatoes with herbs, but it still tastes just..wierd... I mean in the dishes Im replacing meat with Quorn.
Any suggestions on how to jazz it up.. ? many thanks.
ps I have dropped two dress sizes. And yes I am a man.

When I dieted many years ago I used to buy quorn, the chicken like pieces, and we mixed it with stir fry. Everything fried in fry light. You can also get quorn mince and make a shepards pie or burgers. Go on the quorn website for ideas, you can make anything just use quorn instead of real meat.

I don't understand why you've had to give up meat in order to lose weight - unless it was fatty stuff like burgers etc..... surely you'd do better to change the way the food was cooked (say steaming instead of frying) as well as eating more vegetables and fruit. If you want to reduce the amount of meat you eat, you could always include pulses like legumes (kidney beans, chick peas, borlotti beans, split peas, lentils etc) into your dishes, to pad out the meat a bit.
I'm a veggie and cannot abide the taste of Quorn either - it reminds me of meat for some strange reason lol....
I use lots of spices and herbs and have just discovered some gorgeous marinades, sauces and dressings (made by Jethro's)... sorry to advertise but these are flipping wonderful !

I have become addicted to Quorn sausages, after buying some to try. I'd have them any day instead of your standard yucky "pork" sausages. At least you know you're not eating bits of gristle, bones, ears and nose! Blurgh....
They are very firm and "meaty", with a smokey flavour. Love them! I have to try the "chicken style" pieces too. I agree that using them in dishes that are high in flavour would help though, lots of herbs, seasoning, sauce....as they can be a bit dry.

I was at a food festival yesterday with a mate and somehow between us we managed to purchase four different bottles of their sauces.... here's what we bought:-
Irish Whisky & Mustard Vinaigrette (gorgeous over a simple green salad)
Red Chilli & Garlic Sauce (I had this over some indian snacks - mushroom pakoras and veg samosas - at lunch time today... wow)
Orange, Chilli & Cumin Marinade (not yet opened but it sounds flipping marvellous hehe)
Raspberry Walnut Sauce & Dressing (also not yet opened but again it sounds good....)
The only problem I can see with these sauces is that they have to be used up within four weeks of being opened...(being kept in the fridge in the meantime)... now how on earth am I going to get them to stretch out to four weeks each ?

FG - Honest - these sauces & dressings etc are absolutely gorgeous... I've not tasted anything as good as them in yonks (apart from my own concoctions of course !)... I think I might invest in this company, they are going to go far with such brilliant tastes as this ...

And it reinforces the proposition that veggie food is only edible if you make it look, and taste, like meat (ie so you "can't tell the difference").
Our bodies want meat. We have to con our own bodies in order to make veggie food seem attractive.
So ... erm ... just give your body the meat it craves.

LOL Jayne.... since when did we need to eat meat ? Why do we have such long intestines if that were so ? I'm a life long veggie and have absolutely NO cravings to eat dead animals hehe.. (ps our intestines came along way before our teeth).
However, if you want to eat the stuff, fine by me ! I don't eat Quorn cos it tastes horrible to me (I loved your description of it - yeast infection haha) but I do adore the taste of fresh veg etc .
In some parts of the world, people eat stuff like dogs, grubs, insects etc... How many people here eat stuff like that ? Yep, not many, but why not ? They could say that because it's normal there, then you should eat grubs etc but if you weren't inclined that way, you have the right to say errr, no thanks ! Same here :)
