Stolen passport

Hello all.

Just got a text off a friend who's in San Diego, 2nd full day of her tour of the west coast, and some evil git has stolen her passport and travel docs.

I've advised her to inform the police and get in touch with her insurance company but can anyone tell me what else she can do? She's there for 2 weeks in total and is heading for Vegas and then Yellowstone before turning back to San Fransisco a week on Friday.

Any help gratefully received, thanks in advance to anyone who answers xx

I think if she goes to the British Embassy they can assist in getting her a replacement passport but think she'll have had to report it to the police first.

She needs to contact the British Consulate as soon as possible.

If she's still in San Diego, she needs these contact details:

yes, the British authorities will want to see a police report of the theft before they'll replace the passport, so see them pronto

It is a good idea to photocopy a passport when you go on holiday, and keep the copy in your suitcase.

Then if your passport is stolen hopefully you will have a copy which should help in sorting things out.

This assumes the suitcase is not stolen as well !
