Windows media player should do it

You'll have to look for CD roms on magazines or get a mate with internet connection and CD burner to download the installer for you. Or just save the avi file onto disk and view it on any modern machine.

if you have windows media player as stated above, go to file types and make sure avi is selected.

Media Player won't play all avi's by default. Go to the MS web site and in Media you will see codec's you'll need....Most are free but some you may have to pay for.

If you look at the DivX web site they also have a free version of their player which WILL play avi's

PC Format mag has the latest DivX player on the coverdisk this month along with a shed load of other useful stuff.

thanks for the advice.

windows media player just runs the audio (no picture). Looking at a prior posting it would appear to be a codec problem.

Think i'll go out and buy PC Format Mag. cheers!
