Does anyone here use skype? Is it any good, or just another fad? Also is it safe?

Used to talk to my daughter on it every day when she was at uni. It is fantastic. Can't fault it. As far as safety goes, dunno, my bank account and PC are OK so I suppose it must be OK

I use skype, as does everyone I work with, I expect it only works well if you have a broadband connection.

I use a set of headphones with built in mic,and these work perfectly well, and the sound is crystal clear.

Also, Maplin sell a usb skype phone for �34.99 and its great selling point is that PC to PC skype calls are free.

Its safe in that it works like a chat program, where you can only accept calls from people that you already know and block everyone else.
