Can anyone explain how a contestant can be named the weakest link in the first round of the quiz in which everyone answers correctly

If you listen, Ann Robinson always says "It's time to vote off who YOU THINK is the weakest link ...".
The caps are mine, but the point is, as often happens, the person who is the weakest link is not voted off, because contestants perceive that someone else is worse. The voice over always says whom the weakest link actually is, and often asks if the contestants' choice will reflect this - and sometimes it doesn't.
In the case of everyone answering correctly, it can come down to tactical voting, getting rid of a potentially strong contestant early on in the game.

The first person to answer a question in round one is also,should they all answer correctly, the one to bank the �1000 and is therefore the strongest link.
The second person to answer a question has the lowest amount of money in the bank and therefore is the weakest link statistically.The third person to answer a question is then 2nd weakest link etc. Length of time taken to answer isn't a factor
