This week I've had mumps but its pretty much gone now, I'm an 18 year old male and last night, i had the worst fever ive ever had, it was actually painful and its left me in a lot of pain (head ache, back pain, legs are aching etc). its not meningitis, i had the jab for that. im just wondering if its normal for fevers to be so crippling and painful.

The menigitis you can get with mumps is not necessarily the same as you were innoculated for (in fact there are several types of meningitis and you have only bbeen innoculated against the most common) so as the Editors say, see your GP immediately or ring NHS Direct.

I am at university and a friend of mine has just had mumps which developed into meningitis. It is the viral kind for which there is no real treatment and no vaccination, although thankfully it also is less serious. You should visit a doctor - those symptoms are a little worrying and a simple blood test can confirm it. Hope you have someone to look after you!
There could be a lack of iron in her blood, same thing happened to my mom.
