Road tax

I am selling a car which has an mot but is declared Sorn.
The possible buyer has asked if I can get the car taxed and he will pay for it. I have no Insurance for the car as my insurance is for my present car and doesn't cover me for the sorn vehicle.
Is there any way I could get the road tax under these circumstances? the vehicle is otherwise roadworthy.

no insurance no tax...that simple, be carefull, call me cynical but it does sound a bit dubious..Its up to him to insure...Its what everone else has to do in this situation.

It's not that simple though, is it? The buyer can't insure a car he doesn't own, and once he has paid for it the SORN is no longer valid.

Without the log book in the name of the insured, he still can't buy tax.

The sensible thing is to agree to let the buyer leave the car on your property for a few days after he has paid, so he can get the paperwork sorted out and get it taxed himself.

Surely the answer is for the buyer to get insurance, meet up to do the deal, go to the post office with the v5c(log book), mot and buyers insurance and purchase the road tax. The buyer will then be able to drive away legally.

Thanks for all the ideas folks, there was no need to worry though as it turns out he has a trailer to pick the car up... he's comming Monday night....
