Are rubbish X Factors mentally ill?

Many of the people who audition for The X Factor are mostly very bad. I wonder are these people just delusional, just want to get on TV for a few minutes or are they suffering from mental illness?
I personally feel auditionees like Pizza delivery guy Alan Penfold, third time unlucky Kerry Reece, aggressive new ager Ariel all have a screw or two loose
As for Suzanne, who couldn't get the the right Whitney Houston song, well she just looked like she'd been on the Methadone for far too long. She has to be the oldest looking 28 year old ever.

Obe problem is, their loved ones tell them they have talent, because they wish it was true, not because there is talent there, or that they would recognise it if it were.
I think there is a degree of pointing and laughing in the appeal of the show. I always feel sorry for the genuinely bewelidered, but less so for the cocky and rude ones.
The two young lads who sang a Wombats song, and were advised by Cheryl that the tall one had a bad attitude were a case in point.
"Oh yeah, and what have you done?" said the snotty fool.
"Six year career, eighteen Top Ten singles .." shot back the divine Ms. Cole.
But they are few and far between.
At its best, X-Factor ceclebrates a triumph of genuine skill and ability, at its worst, it does mock the afflicted, but either way, it is still excellent TV.
