Do you have a daily newspaper paper delivered?

We've had a daily paper delivered for as long as I can remember, but as they've been arriving later & later, we decided to cancel them yesterday.

I'd got so used to the routine of a cuppa & a good read first thing, but have got so much more done than usual. Cleared out my wardrobe & the cupboard under the stairs, etc.

We're going to buy one each day from now on, but if it's left up to me, I'll probably forget & end up with an empty house!

I only read the newspapers left on the table in the staff canteen!!! Sometimes they are a week old, i never know what is happening much in the world !!! You must be used to keeping up to date with events, you'd miss it if you didn't bother, but it is less clutter in the brain sometimes lol

I get the news anywhere, radio, tv, here, and for newspaper articles I just read my normal paper online.

Haven't bought a paper for years. One paper ever day adds up to nearly �200 per year.

Hi Dot, Postdog & Ethel - yeah, much cheaper to read other peoples casts offs, ha, ha!

We watch the news on tv every night & I often read articles online too. I worked out that our annual newspaper bill was �237! Never thought of doing that before Ethel. Bit daft when you can obtain news for free - well the cost of a tv license &/or ISP subscription! ;o}

I've just realised that for �237 you could buy another pc or laptop, so you can both read the news together online.

I stopped reading newspapers years ago, simply because I found myself believing what was printed therein, and in my opinion the newspapers print only what they want you to believe,

I used to get a paper every day but then I realised that I wasn't reading them until a couple of days later so I never caught up. It was turning out to be an expensive way of lining the guinea pig's cage! I then stopped buying the Saturday paper for the same reason (haven't had a Sunday paper for months) so I now watch BBC News 24 or catch up on-line. Trouble is I now have nothing for the guinea pig

Now that's a thought Ethel. I was thinking of buying myself a new lap top for downstairs, so that's a good enough excuse! ;o}

You could be right there logic - well at some of the far fetched stories at least. It's also very time consuming & can as Dot said, clutter up the brain! ;o}

I am very interested in current affairs and news in general and what I especially like about the internet is that I can read the same news from different sources - the Mail; Telegraph, BBC, Times as examples and try to get a true picture of the situation.

What makes headline news for the Mail is often a non-story blown entirely out of proportion, for instance.

Ha, ha, bensmum! Poor guinea pig! P'raps the local fish & chip shop may oblige!

I know what you mean though, it is an expensive 'hobby' having them delivered daily! I could do without the daily ones, but would miss the weekend ones, mag's, quizzes & puzzles, etc, so we'll probably still buy them.

I can understand that Ethel, variety is the spice of life, so looking up different news bulletins makes for a better picture.

As I mentioned earlier, some stories do appear far fetched, or dressed up - difficult to know what to believe sometimes!

Haven't bought a paper today, as I've been busy around the house. Going out to brave the wind & rain now, but will 'try' to bypass the newspaper counter!

I wonder if I'll give in.....
