Bank Troubles!!
9 Answers
Ive got a massive problem with my bank.
Lat night during a routine enquiry I found out that an arrangement has been made between myself & my bank. BUT this never happened!!
I never made an arrangement with anybody!!
I dont know how to argue this now??? Its like my word against theirs & they keep arguing that no arrangements would be made if I hadnt agreed to them??
what can I do???
Thanks xx

Basically I had no money as Ive just got back from travelling & was on my overdraft limit.
I got my Jobseekers allowance through & when I checked the account I realised that my overdraft had been extended (without my knowledge)
Anyway I paid the minimum on my credit card & for the next few days I spent some money.
Ive now realised that the credit card payment never went through, so they've charged me a late fee on my credit card account.
They say that this was because there was no money in the current acc-but there was, from my jobseekers & the extended overdraft & the fact that i withdrew from several cashpoints & paid in several shops proves that (the credit card payment was the first payment I made as well)
They are now saying that i made an arragement to extend my overdraft to stop further charges with the agreement that I would not spend any money on it-THIS IS WHAT IS NOT TRUE-I NEVER AGREED TO EXTEND THE OVERDRAFT!
Ahhhhh!!! I dont know what to do!!!

No there was nothing in writing.
Factor- im complaining because they say they extended my overdraft based on an agreement that I made with them over the telephone. BUT I NEVER MADE ANY AGREEMENT ON THE TEL!!
It wasnt me & it deffo wasnt anybody in my house, I dont know where they are getting this from.
& yes you are right there was money in the account.

Sorry i'm still confused- maybe it's my fault. Here's what I'm confused about:
(1) I don't see why the late fee is relevant to your complaint that the bank gave you an overdraft that you didn't ask for.
(2) If the bank gave you an overdraft you didn't ask for, why is that such a problem?
If you are concerned that they have agree an overdraft without your agreeemnt you need to ask them. Can't yu just tell them in writing that you didn't ask for it and you want it removing.
Cheers

I'm guessing that it takes about 4 days for the money to be transferred from your account to your credit card ( it does with mine) so by withdrawing and spending more money during that period you probably left no money in your account. Even accounting for the JSA and the extended overdraft, which you didn't want, but obviously used.
