Ornamental Gourds

I have been given a selection of small ornamental gourds, how do you 'dry' them for display? The last time I just left them to it and they rotted ! Any ideas would be appreciated.

Put them in any porous bag, like one sees onions packed in or burlap ( a friend uses a worn out pair of women's panty hose).. Hang them up outside and let them dry until the seeds rattle around inside... this may take several weeks, depending on the variety...
