law concerning garden fences

is it right my neighbour can demand i remove my boundry garden fence (4ft and in good order) just so he can replace it with a new 6ft of his preferance

Check your deeds to determine who is responsible for the boundary and any fencing.

I don't believe your neighbour has any right to make such a demand.

If he/she wants to get awkward let them put it up but on their side of the boundary line.

if you own the fence and it is on your land, he cannot touch it. If he wants a six foot fence, then he can put one up on his land. But honestly do try to solve this amicably as these kind of disputes can have far reaching ramifications

If it's your fence then your neighbour surely has no right to "demand" anything.  Why on earth can these issues not be resolved over a cup of tea or bottle of beer in a friendly and non-confrontational way?  Have a 2-way conversation and try to come to a compromise. Far better than being in dispute with someone you have to live next door to.  Are you going to gain or lose sunlight or shelter?  There may be issues that neither side is fully aware of........so go on......TALK!
