Bobby sox were worn by teenage girls in the late 1940's and early 1950's. Frank Sinatra's publicity people were quick to capitalise on the cronner's teen appeal, referring to 'an army of bobby soxers' to ensure that the star was always surrounded by screaming teenage fans.

Slacks were the style of casual trousers worn by women just after the war. they were considered quite daring in their day, when women in uniform routinly wore trousers, but civilian women wold not have dreamed of adopting such 'masculine' clothing. Fashion has always borken social barriers, and so it was when slcaks became accetptable and popular for ladies as the '50's and 60's saw a more advnturous sense of dress for both sexes.
