Do you mean have I used vet medic? If so the answer is yes, and they are regulated by the necessary authorities, its not like buying something off ebay! If the question is have I used Stronghold, the answer is no, I would not use any sort of spot on treatment on any animal. The only thing I use is Frontline spray, or Drontal or Panacur for worming.
You will find now though that vets will be charging for a prescription again and it won't be any cheaper to get them online if you have to pay for the prescription. This is being monitored and if vets charge exhorbitant amounts, the government will take away their right to charge.

Because I only treat my animals for fleas or worms if I am aware of any infestation or suspect they might be infected.
I do not believe in putting chemicals into my animals for no good reason, and with the spot on treatments the chemical is regularly applied and it is absorbed into the blood stream.
The spray is a knock down which kills the fleas on impact, whereas most of the spot ons have a growth inhibitor, which stops fleas from hatching out and don't actually kill the ones on the animals. I have heard too many horror stories of dogs becoming ill after having been treated with spot on products.
The same with worming, I only worm if I believe them to have worms, i.e. if they have had fleas, or eaten dead animals, or bitches in whelp. I also only use Drontal for adults and Panacur for bitches in whelp and most vets now recommend Milbemax, which can be fatal to some breeds especially Collie type breeds. You can have your dog tested to see if it carries the gene which would make them susceptible to problems with any of the ivermectin wormers. which contain macrocyclic lactones.
I do not believe in routine worming or flea treatment for the sake of it, nor routine vaccination for adult dogs.

Thanks lankeela, I agree. My large moggie cat is a hunter and regularly catches mice, we also have lots of foxes around, so he does catch fleas ... a mad run around the house and then licking all over usually means he has some running up his legs ... I used to use Frontline which he hates the smell of, now I have been using Stronghold as this apparently is a wormer as well. He doesn't mind me putting the Stronghold on, it doesn't seem to have such a strong odour as Frontline. Now I am wondering whether to go back to the Frontline ... as it doesn't need a prescription, perhaps this is safer for him? Why the prescription for Stronghold ?? I can give him a worm tablet separately from time to time. I only use the Frontline or Strong hold about every six to eight weeks anyway, but I understand what you mean.
Lankeela, I think all dog owners should read your post, I agree entirely with everything you've said, I've seen too many animals suffer as a result of putting all these chemicals and vaccines in their bodies they don't need them, in fact my brothers vet has told him to only get his dogs vaccinated every 4 years because he has witnessed too many side effects with the yearly ones, personally if I had a dog I would only give them the puppy jabs and as you say only treat them for worms and fleas as and when they get them. Keep up your good advice Lankeela. (you'll probably have a few comebacks over this)
Lol gelda, bring it on! I am used to having to defend my opinions, but that is all they are, my opinions, but they are borne out of a long time living and working with animals and discussing them with other dog people and my vet.
Even when I took some dogs to Finland recently my vet let me buy my own Drontal wormers online and give them to the animals in his presence because he only stocked Milbemax and I would not let them have it. He knows better than to disagree with me - I am probably the one who pays for his big flash car! On the other hand, if one of my animals is ill and he says it needs treatment I go with what he says without question as I trust him to do the best for them (and me).
