Firstly I live in 1 of 20 flats in our area each with our own front door with bin cupboard. I took the rubbish from the bin cupboard and put it just outside my front door next to the pavement this morning and later watched them come to collect everyone's rubbish. I just gone outside tonight and my black sacks were still there. This is not the first time this has happened. My only theory is that there are parking spaces outside the flats, and the neighbour's car over shadows my front door. Basically the binmen should follow the pavement behind the car and check. It's just lazy. I got nothing against binmen, it's just annoying as it happened again and now I have to wait 2 weeks for the next collection. Going to ring council but what will happen? probably not much.

Bin-men are the VIPs in the UK now, more important than the police unfortunately. : - (

I tried to put out my rubbish further down the pavement but by magic someone put it back on my doorstep! I guess one of the neighbours didn't like that.
I will ring them up tomorrow and maybe someone might pick it up, though I do have large commercial wheelie bins near us but it's the principle and they are not our wheelie bins.
why dont u put your bin next to your neighbours like side by side? they cant miss it
You now can't leave your bin where its wheels might stand on a gravel path, because it makes it more difficult for the binmen to move it! It's total madness. Another one is, they have to be able to move the bin by their fingers - otherwise it's deemed as too heavy. Considering you can put heavy catalogues and old phone directories into the recycling bins, you'd have a job NOT to make it quite heavy - but where's te backbone gone from these people?

Whitebear: coz everyone puts their rubbish outside their doors so I can't exactly put mine outside their doors. Like i said, I tried to put it on the pavement insight of the collectors but someone moved it, maybe it was a hazard??
Give the council a ring. This used to happen regularly to my parents even though the bin was sat out as clearly as any of the others!

They rang the council that night when they got in from work and the council sent round a bin lorry the next day on a detour from their usual route to empty the bin especially.

You just reminded, thanks, I just rang them. The lady said they will come for it but I said I needed to know when as i can't leave it out for days because the neighbours will get the hump. Anyway, they are coming tomorrow. I said it's the 3rd time it has happened so she has reported it as a continuous problem and environmental health will investigate it. Not sure what they will do.
my son is a bin man its not them that make these stupid rules and regulations its the ones that sit on their backsides in offices and the health and saftey people that make all these daft rules in his words bloody yogurt eaters
They should send them round the next day, and let you know that's when they're coming, that's what they did for us
