My kitten is not so cute when she craps by the back door. How can I stop her doing this? Is there a repellent or something?

You can get repellants but they also don't tend to like the smell of citrus so you could keep citrus smelling things round there while she's too young to go out and while she is getting used to using a litter tray.

Can you put her litter tray near the back door, somewhere private for her but where she can easily find it. maybe something which smells familiar to her near it to help her find it while she's little.

Gentle but persistent training is usually best, if she craps outside the tray, pick it up with a litter scoop and put it in the litter tray and her up, stressing a gentle but firm "no" toher then pop her in the tray near it and if she doesn't start covering it over, give her a clue.

Keep doing this and she should get the message.

Make sure the tray is cleaned out very regularly as cats won't tend to go in a dirty tray and this would discourage her.

sheets of tin foil!! Cats hate it I used it on my kittens and four years on they are still brillianlty house trained. Just put the tin foil where she goes to the toilet and she wont be to hasty to walk on it again! Hope it is of some help for you as it worked good for me x

Reason she goes to back door is because kit can smell the fresh air there and she thinks she's outside.

Is it possible for her to go outside thru a cat-flap or window? Maybe the answer?

on that it will depends on the house location as it is only a kitten i had a kitten wen i was younger and she got ran over : (

Interesting answers thankyou I tried the foil but she manages to move it. There is a litter tray which she uses 50% of the time; I feel if I move it to the back door area she will think it is a permanent arrangement and I don't want that as the back door is in the sitting room. I may drip some lemon juice, that sound like a good idea.
