do you know anyone that could give you some co-dydramol tablets, you can only get them on prescription, i have trouble with my wisdom tooth and i find that they are the best for me.

Years ago my mother used to soak a little cotton wool in some whisky and put it against the tooth, or just rub some on.
Oh dee honey , been there and I have full sympathy for you , it really is awful pain . Have you got any strong tabs other than panadol , if not 2 of those will have to do til you can get to see the dentist . Oil of cloves onto the tooth can ease it a bit btw .. All the best , and try to avoid banging your head against the wall eh . x

If you can get to a supermarket or pharmacy, buy some Senosdyne gel toothpaste (it contains a local anaesthetic in it) - just rub a little onto the tooth. Another useful little product sold in supermarkets is Oraljel - it should be near the mouthwashes or Bonjela.
Clove oil, as mentioned previously, and anti-inflammatory painkiller- ibuprofen. Buy the generic- it's just the same as Nurofen but a fraction of the price. Good luck xxx
Pop a paracetamol pill into mouth and let it disolve at toothache point.

If you have a stiff jaw as well, could be compaction of teeth due to wisdom tooth growth.
poor u tooth ache is worse than giving birth .hope its better soon
Without wanting to contradict previous responses....

1) Please don't dissolve any 'over-the counter' analgesic eg Paracetamol/Aspirin/Ibuprofen on the gum next to source of pain as you are liable to receive a chemical burn of the mucosa (soft tissue). This practice would not normally be recommended by dentists or doctors.

2) Sensodyne toothpaste does not contain a local anaesthetic.

Most specific dental pain is caused by inflammation, and as mentioned in an earlier post, you are better off taking either Aspirin/Ibuprofen as directed on the packet (unless you have any medical condition for which this would be contra-indicated). I hope that you are able to see a dentist as soon as possible so that the cause of the problem can be identified and dealt with.
Good answer J9PUR you saved me the trouble

NB - do not use alcohol topically against your oral mucosa, alcohol is a carcinogen
- any pain relieving effects from alcohol are derived after its consumption (and I would recommend that either!)
