Does anyone know if it is possible to protect the text of a word document from being alter (NOT protecting the file itself only the text in the file, so it can still be viewed)?

In there you will find the facility to create passwords for two levels of security. One provides proitection against Opening the file, the second against Modifying the file. If you put a password against the Modify option, this allows the file to be opened without allowing the user to make any changes. Note: they can always save it to a different filename, but I don't know how that can be prevented. Hope this helps.
