In theory after would be correct - before there is definitely an egg present, but after you have a brief window where there is not one. However considering the longevity of sperm and personal irregularities its not a 'safe' bet.

If you are talking about the 'safeest time' that you won't conceive without contraception, the answer is easy - THERE ISN'T ONE!

If you don't want to risk pregnancy, use a condom, or some other reliable form of contraception.

There's a name for people who use the 'safe time', the 'rhythm method' or 'being careful', they're called parents.
