Juniper berries

I have just collected a number of juniper berries from the trees that grow here in the mountains of Serbia. Are they likely to germinate if I plant them? Any special treatment?

probably not as they are very hard to germinate and often need special treatment to break dormancy. Junipers are better propagated from cuttings.

As you have the berries I think it worth a try. I would plant in a loam potting compost mixed with a little sharp sand, top with grit and bury outside. Hopefully the frost will activate germination. Let us know how you get on in Spring! Good luck.
