moist chocolate cake

I have a recipe for a tasty chocolate cake but it comes out a wee bit dry. What can I do to stop this?

at a guess cook it for slightly less time than you doing presently
Grate a raw carrot or a raw beetroot into the cake mix. You won't be able to taste either but it will make the cake lovely and moist.
What a wonderful tip, mrs_overall...I will give that one a go as my chocolate cakes can also be dry.....i guess it would be like carrot cake, where you can rarely spot the carrots. Would never have thought of beetroot.

I forgot to mention........you can use carrot for ANY cake.

Use beetroot ONLY for chocolate cake or fruit cake. If you use it in a plain sponge it will turn it a funny colour!
I was going to suggest beetroot too, but another trick is using a little creme fresh in the mixture as it doesnt set and keeps the indide of your cakes lovely and soft

Hmm.. think I'll try the grated carrot first as I have a carrot to hand. Thanks for the tip!
