ADR licence

Does anyone now if in 2009 anyone who drives a tanker has to have an ADR licence. I work air side(airpot) and this is classed as private property. I have heard even driving on private property you will have to have an ADR licence from next year.

To be honest, I'm surprised you don't have to have one now. I took mine when I was running to Austria and that was over 10 years ago, so I'm stunned that an organisation the size of an airport doesn't insist on tanker drivers having ADR in this wonderful age of Health and Safety.

BAA airports insist that you have the relevant licence to drive your vehicle, when using it airside.

I'm very surprised that your airport doesn't.

I now it sounds stupid, most of the people at BHX do not have them, or they have ran out. It is because it is a private airport(owned by 7 councils and 2 companies). As to my question because it is private in 2009 does every-one who drives a tanker on private property(with public people) have to have one???

I forgot to put the reasen. It is because Air BP are pulling out of Birmingham airport, Might be going to Shell next door.If not going back on the road, hopefully driving tankers!

As to your second point, if you want to drive tankers on public roads, you will definately need an ADR.
