Will you be wearing a Poppy! Do you observe Remembrance Day! Where I live the Poppy issue is controversial, but I think all servicemen and women should be remembered!
puddicat ... I take my hat off to you for serving in the Falklands. I was a bewildered teenie girl at the time, wondering why there was so much fuss over a place that I'd never really heard of.
I think it's awful and unforgivable if you were not properly supported at the time, or now.
Don't be mean to Pru, though. Why shouldn't she proudly wear her Godson's beret? I was really close to my Godparents too. It's a very special relationship.
who is this prat 'puddicat,' clearly never had any association with the military and its long held traditions, I take this imbeciles interjection as a disgusting insult to all our war dead, i beg you ed remove this post in the interest of respect of the lost lives of so many young people,
I have been lucky enough not to lose a close family member in armed combat since the first world war. That said I heartily appreciate the sacrifice that others have made during and since then - up to the present day. Having worked for charities all my adult life (before I changed career) there are few that I will willingly donate to on the street, knowing the waste that goes on. However, I will willingly donate to the Royal British Legion and the PA. I don't know what it is about the Poppy Appeal, but I defy anyone to stand through John Macrae's "In Flanders Fields" and not feel in some way moved in the circus that is war.
Puddi -I salute you for serving Queen and Country -why so bitter-no-one I would assume forced you to do it given we no longer have National Service.
Ergo -why do you feel the need to be further recognised for doing your job and coming out unscathed.
We are helping those who havent had the same privilege as you -in that you are obviously uscathed to the extent you are scathing.
That astonishes me.
Take a wee hint fom me -sometimes best not to post -that is a friendly piece of advice as I have made a rod for my own back by posting without thinking. I am the past master hun x
I wear mine with pride. The youth of today have no idea what people went through during the war. It breaks my heart when I hear of war veterans being beaten up and attacked by thugs.
