Is there something wrong with me...?
4 Answers
I'm 18, and have never had a boyfriend. I've never knowingly had someone that I fancy fancy me back, although I have had my suspicions about some, but nothing's ever happened.
Do you think that not having meaningless relationships early on in life could impact on my chances of finding and keeping 'him'?
I seem to have different views about relationships from other people my age. I'm more traditional - I don't want a fling or anything like that, I want to be in love. But not in a desperate way! Haha.
Also, if a guy really genuinely likes you, will they make the effort to get to know you, will they approach YOU and ask YOU questions, rather than relying on you to make the conversation...?

if a guy really likes you, he should make it known in a courteous and gentlemanly manner. sweep you off your feet like

When I was young I never thought any girl would be interested in me. I got along really well with girls but I could never function normally with those who I really found attractive.
Unfortunately the girl I liked was also not out there about her feelings either. Well not out there enough to spell it out in capital letters to a guy who assumed she was totally out of his league. I realised much later that she did care for me quite a lot and I am terribly sorry that effectively all I did was reject her.
I realised later that there were others who also admired me. Ironically I think they were attracted to the way I was so enamoured with one girl. I still remember the longing look cast my way be one of them some time later.
I was also looking to be in love and was not interested in casual flings. I think in a way I took it all a bit too seriously but another side of me says I could have made a great life with the one I loved.
So I never had any meaningless relationship. Indeed I never had any relationships until I was 21. I have had two relationships and both are long term. Unfortunately the first was with a woman who was much more into individuality than our relationship and never really gave me the kind of acceptance and affection I craved.
Then I met my wife who I have known for 28 years and we have been together for the past 20. It is a great relationship and I certainly have not noticed any negative impact from my lack of experience as an adolescent.
The trick is to know what you want and believe you can find it. You may have to move some place else to find the right guy. Don't settle for less. Just focus on what you want and let your instincts guide you. When you meet the right one you won't have to say anything because his eyes will speak to you.

hiya,
i think everyone is different, i have only ever had proper relationships! never a quick one nighter and hasnt done me any harm, first b/f was for 1 year when i was about 15 - we never actually did anything but kiss!! then i met another guy and was with him for about 18 months, he was sort of my first love, i had a few relationships in between that lasted just a few months and then i met my current partner nearly 9 years ago, we have a little girl and another on the way! i wouldnt worry at all,
people have different opinions on sex and when to do it, with me i prefer to get it out the way!!! thats just coz i get dead nervous and once its over the first few times then i feel more confortable with them, luckerly i havent been "used" for a one nighter, my relationships have lasted, dont think too much about it because i think you will drive yourself mad
i remember the first guy i was with, we were together a year and we never did anything bar kiss, because i got so nervous and worked up i just chickened out everytime! its because i thought about it too much and felt presured,
it will happen natuarally and you will prob get hurt a few times along the way but it only makes you stronger in the long run, good luck xx
