modem
My computer modem is not turning on every time I switch it on.
No thats wrong it is coming on, it is just not firing up.
I gave up earlier after several goes and then when I was showing it to my friend it came on first time.
What shall I do ?
Thanks in advance.

I am renting a room so I dont have a landline phone.
I have a screen, printer, scanner, which I cant get to work since I moved house and the large box modem ?
The button must be faulty on the modem as it is not switching on all the time, but once it is on , everything is OK.
I have a small attachment called netgear smart wizard to get on to the internet.

got to be said - you aren't .....
I'm still not sure what you are using
no landline gets rid of the adsl and dialup options
so looks like chuck is right - cable?
do you have virgin fnah! - (it's almost as good as the 7th planet between saturn and neptune).
the smart wiz is (as far as I know) just a configuration util - use it once and it's done.
so - is the connection yours? .... or are you sharing someone else's connection
if it's yours - who sends the bill (I don't mean Gladys in accounts)
