there's a one way rotating flat semi circular disc that moves with wrist movement and winds the spring. That's why they stop when you take them off for a couple of days.

It revolves both ways actually, I have one with a glass back.

doc, it has to be able to rotate both ways. One way to 'free wheel' and the other way it engages a gear and wind the spring a bit with each movement..
