Allergic Rhinitus or is it?

For the past 2 months I have had streams of clear mucus from my nose. I have tried a number of remedies to no avail. I once had polyps removed by surgical operation. Now I am trying Beconase bought from the chemist which aims to tackle hayfever.

Any other remedies?

Beconase or other steroidal inhalants may do the trick as it does sound allergic in orgin, particulaly as you have had polyps in the past. Antihistamines by mouth may also be considered. If it remains resistent to treatment, then one injection of depot medrone might well do the trick.

Check other possibilities with your GP as well to see if they have something better for you.

I have prescription nasal sprays for my allergic otitis (in my ears and connected to menieres).

You may also be able to try some stronger antihistamines.

Thanks for your answers. If it is an allergy to something round the home I am baffled. We have no pets. I use a synthetic covered pillow. Our bedding is washed frequently. The only likely culprits are the carpets, which are hoovered regularly, the central heating atmosphere, the biological soap powder which has now been changed, soaps and lastly the goose down quilt which we have had for a number of years.
I suppose one remedy to test them would be to change address for a period.

No rov, don't do that, just ask your GP o send you for blood test IgE. If that is raised then it indicates an inhalant antigen ..allergy...and than a R.A.S.T blood test may well identify it. If all allergy tests come back with normal results, the you have what is known as Vasomotor Rhinitis and you may need to return to your ENT Surgeon for further treatment.
