Hi, my dad has an old lathe and needs a bristol locking handle for it as his is broken and since the new version has come out they have changed the size of the thread and he needs the old version, does anyone know where he could purchase one please. Thanks
but they are all metric threads so may not be suitable out the box, though I would make a new stud with a metric thread on one end and a thread to suit the lathe on the other.
hehe :) I will check with my father either later today or tomorrow as he is an expert on old engineering machinery, my knowledge on the subject has only been gained from being surrounded by that sort of stuff as a kid. He has loads of books and magazines on the subject so may know of somewhere to get the part.
But the fact your dad has a lathe would indicate he is fairly competent at metal working so it shouldn't be a hard job to modify a newer handle to fit.
I do know its not metal but wood he works with, so got that bit right lol, i have told him what you mentioned and he had just said that to my mum so your both on the same wave length so we might all get somewhere with a bit of luck, thanks for asking / going to ask your father for me. Speak soon. Can you mail me here please [email protected]
