Hey

Just wondering what is the best free download for virus protection for the computer.

My mums next door neighbour is and IT person and he told me to use AVG.

Now my mum has moved and she had to get someone in to look at her computer and he told her that AVG is no use and to use a different one. She cant remember the name though. Its definately not Spyware or Norton.

Can anyone recommend a good free download for me?

I've used Norton in the past and it seemed to slow our laptop down.

Thanks

I use AVG and think its good and it got a good rating recently on the telly.
Norton I would never recommend but its not a freebie anyway.
stick with AVG, do not use norton it's over priced, too resource hungry and causes conflicts with all sorts of things.

keep in mind that AVG is anti virus you still need anti spyware software, they are not the same thing and require separate bits of software to deal with them.

adaware is about the best for anti spyware in my opinion.

I use Avast found @ www.avast.com click on avast 4 home edition. Remember, no antivirus program will catch every virus. I find it very easy to use too. Norton is good for people who like slow problematic computers. I think norton is a virus its self.
