Does anyone know where this catchphrase first originated?

My (first) ex-mother-in-law, now deceased, used to surruptitiously fart all the time at the most inappropriate times. Whenever she let rip, & it wasn't of the SBD type, rather more of a car backfiring or duck-call type, she used to say "Ooh, more tea vicar?"

I never liked to ask why. Or what sort of relationship she had with the vicar.
