fire regulations for 3 story flat made of wood

I live in a block of flats that have recently suffered a bad fire completely destroying one side. The building has fire doors throughout with separate hallways between the communal stairwell and front doors of the separate flats. each flat has smoke alarms and the building is supposedly made with fire resistant materials and has separations in the structure to slow down the spread of fire and that is all the protection from fire. There are no extinguishers, fire alarm, sprinklers, fire exit or information on what to do in the event of a fire. What I want to know is if this is above, below or minimum requirements for fire safety in a 3 story wooden block of flats??

Jees Tommo.. someone would soon be taking your calls if there had been a death in the fire eh! Sounds like something has been overlooked and your block isn't as finished as it should be... You could try the developer.. Berkley Homes.. is there a site manager - or Building Inspector... If your flat comes with an NHBC guarantee then you could speak to the NHBC Building Inspector allocated to that address.... Councils are useless though!

No extinguishers in communal areas - that cant be right!!!! And sounds pretty scary too to have to run around knocking on peoples doors to warn them of the fire! Awful for you!

yep nosha complete ******* but am on the case to find out if they met standards or not and if they didn't then I'm gunna **** them good an proper, Iv got a 6 month old daughter that was sleeping at the time of the fire, if someone didn't spot it as soon as they did we could have all been in ****!

It is scary to think what could have happened.
