How is a twin 'noted' on a birth certificate? There is rumour that my aunt was a twin at birth but I can find no evidence of this...

I am a twin but my birth certificate doesn't say so. However, it does give the time of my birth (so it can be used to prove I am the older). That may be the clue to look for.

Did (do) stillborn babies have birth certs? If she had been one of twins when born but the other one died maybe that's why i can't find a trace.
if you look under deaths same name date etc it will be there. if you want me to look for you just let me know
can you see the original register of births? or an online version? if there was a twin I would expect them to follow in a register.

If you look in the birth register for the quarter in which your Aunts birth was registered (this may be different to when she was born, eg if she was born in March 1960 her birth may not have been registered until April so you would have to look in the quarters ending both March and June 1960) you could see if there is another child with the same surname registered at the same place. If there is you may have to order the birth certificate to find out if it is a twin of your Aunt. If you want to post your Aunts birth name, date of birth and where she was born I could look it up for you, but I understand if you don't want to.
