My Cannon gas cooker has a problem with the electric igniter - if using the top oven the four hobrings continue to try to ignite. This results is a continuous clicking noise and i then have to turn the cooker off at the wall. The top oven will continue to work but the bottom one doesnt. Any ideas or will I need an engineer and if so what will need replaced and at what cost.

I had a similar problem with my New World gas cooker years ago. On the back of the cooker there was a plastic block (size of a cigarette packet) with 6 electrical connection terminals sticking out from it. Each terminal had an electric wire pushed on to it leading to the ignitor on the oven, grill, ring. If you buy the identical replacement part it's a simple matter to unscrew the plastic block and replace it then connect the wires in the same position. Unfortunately, in my case, the replacement part was a generic and I had to call in an engineer who charged me the call out charge to connect 6 wires. The part itself cost 30, but that was probably 12 years ago. Hope this helps.
