what would be the right thing to do in this situation...you were engaged to someone and then you split up, you have an expensive engagement ring. do you return it to the man or keep it ?

well I'd firstly be worried that I was engaged to a man...

but in principle, or if situation reversed, then yes I would.

I think offer it back, and if you like it hope he says no, but... why would you want to keep it?

after I divorced I had the diamond from my ring set in a pendant, but I still asked my ex if that was okay with him.

In response to the Chicken man, I have been married to a woman, and engaged to a man, because I wanted to know what it felt like and I am a great believer in equality. I wasn't too sold on the physical bits so I am now back on the market for a woman.

Well I gave wiffey his ring back - found out he was seeing a man behind my back.

He was gutted though. Didn't know which way to turn ....
