Getting to sleep at night
10 Answers
I've been quite tired recently and keep trying to get early nights, but when i go to bed I just can't seem to settle down and 'turn my brain off'! I almost always go to bed having just studied - should I do something else to unwind? Any advice? I am tired, just can't get settled.

I have a small glass of brandy and read a bit of Luke. If you can't settle, then accept it and don't get all wound up trying to sleep. Go to the library and get a book on astronomy, read about light-years, Andromeda, black holes, neutron stars, and wonder where we fit in. Someone somewhere will try to convince you that the universe is a trillion light years in diameter. Oh yes?
redo your normal bedtime rythmn. Get up have a drink, use the toilet, whatever.
Get back into bed, relax your muscles starting from your toes, throughout your body all the way up to your head.
Breathe in nice and steadily.
Listen to any noises outside/inside your room and let them just flow over you.
Imagine your eyes getting heavier and tireder and relax a little more with your breathing.
If it doesnt work after 20 minutes then re-try.
Peace
