Eye makeup

I've decided I need a new look and I'm planning to start with my makeup. Just wondering what day eye makeup you ladies wear. I always seem to see women with such good eye make up and wonder what it is. I usually just wear lancome brown eye liner and a bit of mascara if I can be bothered, but I'm starting to think I look really plain. I really want something subtle but also something that makes my eyes look bit and startling. Thanks x x

It is easy enough to get some eye shadows and experiment with what colours suit you. You are already using mascara and eyeliner. The only other thing would be false lashes if you want to make a dramatic difference for a party or something.

Mosdt Co-Op dept stores or Boots will do you a free makeover. I'm a bit of a Clinique Freak and the staff at the Clinique counters are very knowledgable and helpful. They have some good offers and freebies coming up to xmas.

Hi, effervescenc!

I have very dark brown eyes, too, and during the day I still like to wear eyeshadow, but I stick to more subtle colours.

I use a matte cream/nude colour across the whole eyelid, a shimmery, (very, very) light brown blended into the socket and on to the brow bone and then a very deep purple (blow most of it off the brush!) on a tiny brush into the socket and on the outer corner of the eye. Sounds a bit much, but as long as you don't apply it too heavily and blend it so there are no harsh lines, it'll look lovely. I also use a brown eyeliner for daytime.

Purples (plums, especially), slate blues (be careful of the shade), greys and greens look amazing on brown eyes. You can't really go wrong with brown eyes.
