Is it just me, or is anyone else out there so sick and tired of seeing lengthy trailers for programmes due to be shown, that it totally puts me off watching it when it is finally aired? The Commander springs to mind. If I hear that woman screaming "MY BABY" again, I'll throw something at the television!!
I gave up watching the hour long programmes on Channel 4 such as Location, Location, Location a long time ago because I was fed up of being treated like an idiot with the attention span of a goldfish.
First part - what's coming up in the show, 5 minutes of show, then a break; part 2 starts with a recap of part 1 and finishes with what's coming up in part 3; part 3 starts with a recap of parts one and two, a few minutes of show then a break...
oooh, one of my pet peeves too. And I hate it when you've just enjoyed a programme or film & you need a minute to think about it....before the first credits start rolling they're bombarding you with some rubbish trailer!
Oh good grief yes Ethel, C4 does that on every programme dunnit?!
And they always start the programme with the most interesting/controversial clip highlighted at the beginning of the hour, and then repeat it before and after every ad break and then it finally appears in the last 5 minutes of the programme as the highlight.
Another bug bear is what I call the Americanisation or sensationalism in C5 documentary pre-ad cliff-hangers. Such as the one about dismantling a 747. Working at such heights, removing the bolts from a wing too quickly could mean disaster for the demolition crew and probably death, doing it too slowly could cost them millions of dollars (ad break)
After the ad they removed the wing without a hitch, but they have found a more sinister problem.the workmen inside the aircraft will have to work in the dark as the power is cut off.. Whats wrong with using a torch or a lead lamp???? It aggravates the bejeebers out of me.
Watched the folk proms a few weeks ago, & bellowhead were doing an encore, the show was running late so they cut from the band to you've guessed...a trailer.... They got a very angry e-mail!!!!
