I used to eat them in Preston town square growing up Im sure it was black peas in a little polystrene cup and we had vinegar to add as you liked it they also had little new potatos in skins cooked in an oven and put in a paper bag with some rock salt.

I would love to try black peas again, where can I buy them and how do I prepare them?

Our local Asda sold them in the lead up to Bonfire night. I think it depends on where you are theyre also known as Pigeon peas and some pet food stores stock them.
Simply soak overnight, rinse then cover and simmer till tender, lots of salt and vinegar as you say.
