Who owns them? Is it the local council or Highways?

When bikers complain of pot holes in the road to the council they say contact Highways.

It's the Highways Department of either the Local Area Council, or the County Council.
These roads are maintained by the Highways Agency:

(If your browser automatically fits images to the window , you might need to click on that map to see it properly).

Problems with roads on that map can be emailed to:
[email protected]

Alternatively, phone this number:
08457 50 40 30

All other roads are maintained by the Highways Department of the relevant county council (or unitary/metropolitan authority, as appropriate).
