why does my iron trip the plugs electric everytime i use it

A short in your iron, probably. Stop using it!
Not a short, but an earth fault in the iron.

do you use an extension lead between the socket and your iron?

Check the plug is wired correctly and tightly and that you have the correct fuse in it.  A 3 amp cartridge fuse can handle an appliance below and up to about 720 watts. Above 720 and up to 3000 watts, a 13amp fuse should be used.

Also, does this happen when you try the iron with all the sockets in your house, or just one in particulr?  If just this one, then it may be the socket.

My iron used to do this.  There was a loose wire where the flex joins the iron.
Listen to Joey - bin the iron, it is faulty and potentially danderous.
