Ford Mondeo LX TD Turbo Diesel Estate - HELP !!!
My Mondeo has developed a problem that no-one can seem to solve... The car starts ok, but now and again, the engine begins to slow down after a few seconds, starts to make a knocking sound and then races. The REV Counter hits maximum and I create an enormous smokescreen (white smoke) for about 4 or 5 seconds. When the revs subside, the car runs ok apart from blowing smoke for 1 or 2 miles. The only suggestion that seems to make any sense is that oil is getting into the fuel system causing the engine to race until it burns off. However, the mechanic had no idea how it could be happening.
Any suggestions ?????
