Ok looks like the badies have got all the aces. Is paying the ransom the only acceptable way out of this? Ie presumably dead hostages/ environmental disaster really must be avoided. How can we riegn these pirates in going forward? It seems they are getting ever more ambitious.
We could do with that crude......send a tug boat out to lasso it back to UK and the pirates will jump over-board asa they feel the cold - due this w/e!
To prevent anything like this happening again, isn't it time for the ships in this area to travel in convoy, escorted by the Navy's of NATO perhaps? Or an aircraft carrier could be stationed in these waters, ready to answer any 'Mayday' calls. How long would it take for a jet fighter/bomber to reach and depatch the pirate ship?
As I intimated earlier, if you are sat on top of a floating bomb, and someone is pointing an artillery gun at you, you let them on. See the link at the top of this page to see what happens if you do not comply.
They did not get on board using stripe. I think they were dropped off by an unknown military Helicopter. You may guess whos helicopter.. Just think about oil.
I thought these ships had continuous jets of water spraying around them that would sink any smaller vessel nearby. I also thought they had sonar equipment that could deafen would-be boarders.
Blowing the pirates out of the water is a thought after they have left the tanker. After all Somalia isn't in a position to fight back is it.
But thats not going to happen so I'm out of ideas.
Terambulan I think they are Somali. But Americans are saying that pirates are very well trained. May be they were trained by CIA in Scotland. I will speak to their leader soon and let you know his mobile phone number.
