When I try to burn a CD I keep getting a message that tells me to put in an empty disc even though I have one in the drive.

Klik on My Computer/CD Drive and check the Mbs on the CD.

I have Tesco's rubbish CDs. Mostly show 0 bytes and are duff.....soon to be chucked at Tescos!

Buy quality named blanks; else you waste a lot of time.....learned at my cost!
You could keep the CD out and not put it in until the program tells you to. Although with mine, if I click OK it finds the empty CD anyway.
either terambulan is right or the drive is faulty....

can you cadge a disc from someone?
Check if it will PLAY a pre-recorded CD. If that works, it's a start, then take terambulan's advice and try a better quality blank disk. I use cheap disks from PC world and they work most of the time but I do have to throw about 20% of them away when they don't record properly (get ejected part way through disk burning). At 20 for a hundred though, I put up with that. Once they have recorded ok, they work fine.
