gas and electric providers

How can we find out who provides gas and electric at a property we are buying when it has been rented out and the vendor doesnt know who the providers are?? All help appreciated.

Post can give an idea as they are usually either chasing an outstanding bill from when occupied or unoccupied.

Either that or sending new details for people to get in touch to get an account set up.

The letting agents (if any) may know or be able to find out, could even ask the tenants if they are still there or even if they have left.

thanks for this - decided to put off exchange until we know - want to avoid any problems with being potentially cut off - sure vendor will now get to the bottom of swiftly!!!
