I'm developing an interest in the eBook Reader from Sony. With purchase of the Reader, Waterstones is giving a CD containing 100 classic ebooks.

Out of curiosity, can anyone give a full list of the ebooks contained on that CD?

If you buy from elsewhere, you get credits for 100 free books from this list:

http://ebookstore.sony.com/specials/sonyclassi cs/index.html

The sony cd will contain 100 of those, but I don't know which ones.
I don't know if you are aware but all of those books are long out of copyright and can be dowloaded free, like thousands of others, from here:

presumably (radical thought) sony can?

oh yes!
http://ebookstore.sony.com/specials/sonyclassi cs/index.html

there is also a copy of google for beginners included
lol

you can see how hard it was to find
even when tremours is on the sci fi channel
But Ac, that link doesn't specify the 100 that are on the cd.

The eReader comes prepacked with a cd with 100 classic titles
Just as an aside are these Readers any good? Just might solve my problem of carrying books on holiday.
When I get going I can get through 5 books easy over two weeks.
Slackalice, I bought one, mainly for that reason. It good, not much choice for ebooks at the moment and you can only buy them from Waterstones but I am glad I got one.
Not looked properly at the free books yet, the only one I have put on is Jane Eyre
point taken ... but it's a good film
and then again ethel does it matter? - they are all classics

..... look at in another way

Just as classical figure means fat ... and classic car means leaky pile of junk - classic titles ???

I read quite a good chunk of these years ago - then they were new to me - now just a list of some of the books I read.

I still think - to find out what's in the box - I'd ring waterstones - not that it would affect my buying decision.

slack
personally I stopped taking heavy books on holiday a few years ago
I got me one of these
http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?prod uct_id=18252&category_id=0
and I take audio books
On a 4Gb model I can get 27 of the discworld books with a decent set of in ear thingies - you can even listen on the plane.

My reservation about the bookie thing is that in bright light it could be hard to read (most screens are)
and as a rechargable device ... what do you do when the plane is delayed?
With the Sony eReader it can be read in brilliant sunlight

I badly want one.
And apparently the charge lasts for 19 hours.

I badly want one
I've been reading all week and not had to charge it up yet. Its only gone down one bar.
I badly want one.
From the info I received of various sites, each retailer is selling the books for one type of reader, so Waterstones is the Sony, Amazon is kindle and Borders is another.
Go for it ethel!
tickledtrout - apologies if you are aware of this already, but the link I gave in the second answer to the free book downloads can be used on your eReader with this converter (or any other downloadable book in the HTML format)

Thanks for your comments.

Ethel get your credit card out, you're hooked!!
Thanks for that ethel, didn't know about gutenberg. Will have a look when I come to stock up for my hols.
ethel

to quote one of the books which is on the list - but may or may not be included, "oh, that way madness lies"

actually 19 hours isn't bad - I've spent so much time sitting in stations and airports I just avoid rechargeable on principle.

I tried to list the 100 titles here but there was not enough room sadly.....but good news is that the full list can be found here (at bottom of page):

Hope this helps! Peter
