Forgotten Children's Book (1980s)
3 Answers
I wonder if anyone here can recall a series of books about a large purple monster? I read them in infants school (probably around age 4 or 5, maybe 6). This was in the UK in the 80s.
For the life of me I can't remember what the series or the monster were called. I don't even know if they're still published, but it's annoying me. I think in one book he possibly had trouble getting into a house because he was so big?
Not Barbapapa, and not the one eyed, one horned flying purple people eater.
Any ideas?

Hello, Superhanmar and Kelbardi:
I believe you're referring to the series of books about a giant purple monster (aptly named Monster) by Ellen Blance. I read these books as a child; they were wonderful books. Some of the titles are as follows:
Monster Goes To The Museum
Lady Monster Has A Plan
Monster On The Bus
Monster Comes To The City
They seem to be out of print--I believe they were written in the 70's. I have seen a few on Amazon, however. (Isn't the internet great?) Hope this helps!
Best,
Betsy
