I wasn't sure where to post this but here goes anyway. There are some children who play outside my house everyday. The problem is they often hit their ball on my window leaving mud marks on the door and windows! After numerous attempts of speaking to the parents, the problem is still there. My question is, does anyone know if I can get the council to put up a 'no ball games' sign, and does this then legally stop them? I need help guys, i'm going crazy! I don't know what to do.

This could be seen as an anti-social behaviour or as a noise issue.  A first "in" might be environmental health though  If you live in council housing your housing office would be a good first point of contact.  Sorry to be vague but think its highly unlikely to be illegal as such so your best bet may well to be approach from the nuisance angle.

Good luck!

I'm a home-owner and it's terraced housing - if that helps! I might try a general local council I think??
There is an offence of playing ball games on the highway to the annoyance or obstruction of road users and passers-by.  For reasons best known to itself, Parliament did not include residents.  If the conditions are met, you could go to the police, but you would probably need to give them the reference - section 168 of the Highways Act, which was made approximately 1980.
My friend lives in a end of terrace flat where kids would kick a ball against the wall for hours, he stopped it by inviting the parents in to listen to the noise it made.
Get your Dunlops on an go for a kick about with them, you might enjoy it.
